Mararoa Cottage:
is situated on our property, close to the main
house but with its own small garden and gorgeous
views of the Mararoa River and Takitimu Mountains.
It is a warm and cosy retreat in winter, and in
the summer you can dine alfresco beneath shade
trees on the river terrace. Lake Manapouri and
the small Manapouri township with cafes and
bistro is 12 km down the road. Te Anau, with its
shopping centre, cinema and several restaurants
is just 20 km away. Fiordland National Park can
be accessed from both townships.
Countryside:
the cottage has a rural setting, with many
pleasant walks within a few minutes drive. For a
relaxing day off, stay at the cottage with books,
DVDs and board games and take a stroll out the
gate and along quiet country roads though deer
farming county. If you like animals you will love
our beautiful Gotland sheep with their famously
soft wool, our tame free range hens and our
gentle mongrel dog, Moss.
Your
hosts: Paul and Catherine have
lived in Fiordland for 15 years. Paul skippers a
boat in Doubtful Sound for the tourist company
Real Journeys, while Catherine has occasional
work as a nature guide for the company. Trips

school. As a family we are involved in several
